3.49 a gallon at the grocery by my house.  I just bought a gallon, although
I drink substantially less than I used to, and mix the real milk with
powdered milk to make it go further. Mostly now, we use it for cereal and
cooking, not as a beverage.

Gas prices are off slightly from highs in May.  I filled up yesterday for
1.70 a gallon, which is cheap compared to the rest of the nation because
Georgia has the lowest gasoline tax.

I've given up coffee, bottled water, milk, fast food, fruit juice, and a
wide variety of other things because I just can no longer afford
them.   I've been getting by lately on beans, corn bread, and other cheap
foods like soups and pasta.

I haven't bought new clothes in several years.  I've greatly reduced the
amount of driving I do, and traded my SUV for a modest, compact car.  Even
with that, my cost of living is almost beyond what I can afford.

I don't understand how families with children who must buy these items
manage to survive.
