exception of second hard drive and dvd-r.
I figured it was over heating so I had him open it up and blow it out.
He then let it run for a while, shut it down, and then touched the
heat sink. It was nice and cool. I have the same model and I don't
think there are any settings for over heating in the BIOS. I could be
wrong though.
While he had the case open it did shut down on him. Right before it
did, he said the fan acted like it was losing power. It made a noise
like it was slowing down and the the computer turned off.
The computer gets really abused. We use it to record and write music
in his studio. It's always on and processing multiple 50 meg sounds
files at the same time. He has to wipe the drives and reinstall once
every month or two.
I'll have him try swapping the video card and see what happens. and
then move on the the hard drive. Hopefully one of these things will
help track the problem down.
Thanks
