Is it against the law for consenting adults to have sex? ... I don't
know that it is against the law... I know that it's almost universally
taboo amongst the various cultures and religions... But I also know
that the taboo is not the same in all cultures. There was a Time Life
book (strange for Time Life to produce anything worth reading), called
Sex and Spirit which gives a thumb-nail view of a lot of cultural
beliefs and practices regarding sex, in which it describes some of the
cases in which the taboo is reversed in isolated incidents. One tribe
for instance where a boys first sexual experience is supposed to be
with his mother -- but in all other cases sexual contact with parents
or siblings is strictly forbidden. But generally speaking, were it
against the law (which I don't know it is), the law would not be my
first concern no. The reason the law would not be my first concern is
because I view the law as a means of upholding certain principles --
the law itself is not a principle. That being the case, the first
thing on my mind when evaluating a principle is the principle itself,
not any of its surrounding legalities.
