From the article that I read she did mention reports (from anonymous
sources) that al-Qaida planned to send people over the Mexican border.  She
mentioned the reported ease of getting South African passports.  Until we
have more reliable sources then I think the story deserves investigation,
not panic.

Also the woman mentioned was not proven to be a "mule" for any "operations"
- she is being questioned and investigated.  It may end up that she was but
for right now she's only guilty of having a bad passport.

The "hundreds" quote hasn't been substantiated, has it?  Even if it has it
seems a leap to say that they are "likely" all in the New York/New Jersey
area.

We also jump directly from "young male, Arab speaking" to "operatives".  Not
all young male, Arabic speakers are operatives - in fact only a vanishing
small number are.

As for fear there are two points:

1) To strike up fear you would not need to send anybody over the border at
all.  You only need to make anonymous reports to gullible news media.  (I'm
actually surprised that this isn't a more common tactic - much more general
disruption could be created safely from repeated, false bomb or infiltration
reports than from actual attempts.  We've had two bomb scares (unmarked
packages) in my building in the last 9 nine years - each effectively shut us
down for three or four hours each.  Hundreds of such reports across the
nation would cause massive disruption and bind us to either ignore potential
threats or honor every one.)

2) By lending credence to unsubstantiated claims and by further adding
"color" to those claims we create fear where none is warranted.

Of course I fully support investigation into this and, with good evidence,
would give it all the support required to eliminate the problem.  My point
was simply that the author acknowledged the report and gave it proper, not
alarmist or dismissive, treatment.

Subject: Re: Look Out New York!!

Isn't it strange that the mainstream media does not even discuss the policy
of
immigration judges releasing into society, these illegal border crossers,
even
though they are identified as "Young male, Arab speaking?"  Why don't we
have
border security?  Why do we release into society these illegals even after
they
are rounded up?

Is the DHS, as I suspect, only a "feel good" agency who either cannot, or
will
not address these potential terrorists being allowed not only ready access
to
the borders, but no effort is made at all to protect society at large from
the
potential threat?  They refuse to enforce existing immigration laws, They
refuse
to enforce existing laws against those who employ them.

MSNBC only describes the one woman who was "muleing the money" for the
operations, and do not mention the "hundreds" that are now on the loose.
These
operatives are likely now in the New York/New Jersey area now, and are in
the
process of putting together their plans.  One can only surmise that multiple
people were charged with carrying the money, and that the others got away.

I know I have harped on the "border insecurity" at length, and the threat
still
is here after all this time.  The American public is kept in a state of
fear,
and little of substance is really being done to make us safer.  I am not so
concerned about the Mexican illegals, as about all the harm they do, in some
cases, is a burglary or theft here and there, but the "Arab speaking
illegals"
have a track record of terrorism, and have shown the will do to harm to
innocents.

I feel the need, because of this list membership to add a disclaimer that I
am
not pointing out Arab speaking LEGAL immigrants, or any particular religion.
It
is the ones who cross the border illegally that strikes up the fear.
