Yup probably, thats why its always better to goto a teller if at all possible. As long as its cash it becomes available instantly.

lets say that the reason I am depositing money is cos I don't have enough funds, knowing that I am about to be billed by Company A for some fee.  I guess that this transaction is still pending.  What happens if company A requests their transaction for the fee at this moment?  what happens?  I will go overdraft?  ::dies::!!!

The transaction gets logged in a journal and then all of the deposits are processed by hand usually at the end of the business day.

today i went to ATM and deposited money into the ATM (for the first time in my life!)
it told me to put the money in a provided envelope, and enter how much I put in there, and slip the envelope
does it know what i really put in the enevelope?
or does someone come at the end of the day and check the envelope with the the corresponding deposit transaction?  if so, when does this happen?
