There is always the occasoinal fluke. When i installed XP SP1 at work it screwed my outlook settings but this time SP2 has been ok. Sorry for your pain..i know how annoying a complete reinstall is. One nice thing with XP though is that alot of the time you can do a repair from the CD which works pretty well for most things and you won't loose your registry and such. But sometimes its nice to just get a fresh start anyway. I used to reinstall every 3 months or so just to keep fresh LOL

  then the sp2 unistal was ugly & hosed all my local serve settings...
  so 6 hours latter, and a few beers, wife is in bed & i have a nwly
  formated machine with sp 1
  no firewall & hopefully all my doom3 save points...

  NOW some one tel me what i did wrong...
  and how great sp2 is & why i should use it & how i should set it up....
