I agree, looks like a balanced discussion. House of Bush House of Saud
however does make the additional point that although on 9/18 flights
had resumed in the US, very few were leaving Logan due to security
concerns. Two of the hijacked flights left from Logan, remember, and
the security lockdown afterwards reached a point where they towed
1000's of cars from the parking garages.

But I thought I would bring this up as the shades of grey in the facts
had previously led some people to say this story was just Michael
Moore lying.

These guys almost always get it right.....and this is a good
discussion of what occurred immediately following 9/11 involving OBL
relatives, and the reasons for them.

stumbled across this book at the library and finished it a couple of
days ago.

For those who say Fahrenheit 9/11 misstated the facts on the
evacuation of the Saudi royals, it is revisited here with footnotes,
as is the the 1.4 billion dollar figure for Saudi payments to the Bush
enterprises. Both look pretty solid to me. The sources are government
documents and mainstream news publications ie New York Times,
  Washington Post, and Agence France-Presse.

The personal interviews are with people who would be in a position to
know -- for instance the head of aviation at Logan Airport and the
head of the Massachussetts Port Authority say two planes took off from
Logan for Saudi Arabia and the FBI instructed them to let it take off.
The FBI is also quoted on the record as denying this. A former agent
says there was a huge tiff with the Saudi ambassador over whether the
passengers would at least be required to identify themselves :)

Oh, by the way, the book says later on that when Osama's second in
command was captured in Pakistan he named one of the people on that
plane as his Saudi contact :)  I have not yet carefully examined the
sources for that statement, nor for the assertion that this alleged
contact was found dead shortly afterwards.

But uh... I'll look it up if anyone is interested :) I still have the
book out. It's an interesting tale at the very least.
