Don't be skerred Raymond...If you get a solderless adapter with the modchip,
it's as easy as installing RAM in a computer. Now modding a PS2 is very,
very scary.
And I think I steered you wrong with MythTV, that freeware only runs on
linux. I think I was thinking of MyHTPC which is now a commercial product
called meedio (HYPERLINK "http://www.meedio.com/"http://www.meedio.com/). It
used to be free, but the guy who was developing it used to work for Enron,
and when everything went kerploop, he decided to convert it into a product
to sustain his livelihood.
A good site for information on MS's MCE is: HYPERLINK
"http://www.thegreenbutton.com/"http://www.thegreenbutton.com/
The word on that site is that the MCE Extenders are coming out over the next
2 months and that MCE 2005 is in the hands of PC manufacturers and suppliers
(TechData, etc.) right now. Also, MS's MSDN site has it shipping to
subscribers in November: HYPERLINK
"http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/new/default.aspx"http://msdn.micros
oft.com/subscriptions/new/default.aspx .

I know that's what has been announced so far, but MS will absolutely have to
provide some way to upgrade our old vanilla XP systems if they want to sell
any respectable amounts of the Extenders, especially the Xbox version. This
media gateway idea for the Xbox has been an integral part of the Xbox vision
within Microsoft from almost day one...they're going to find a way to sell
it to the masses and have one more official feature to tout over Sony's
heads. I read an article with one of the product managers a few month's
back and he all but said the same thing...but I won't believe either side
until the extenders hit the store shelves. I guess we'll just have to wait
and see->
