Hi Dana,
It would be impossible for me to footnote since I didn't include
anybody's content. I originally wrote them just to organize my own
thoughts on things, and I wrote 2: one on fiscal policy (America the
Bankrupt) and the second on foreign policy (Iraq: the real reason).
I suppose I could've added specific quotes like this:
Bob Woodward: "Why did the United States invade Iraq?"
President Bush: "It's our duty to liberate people."
BW: "Isn't that dangerously paternalistic?"
GB: "Maybe to some elites."
and contrast that with Bush's campaign speech today:
"We went to Iraq ... to defend America ... Given the choice I will
defend America everytime."
I thought we were liberating people? Hmmm...
The post was a brain dump of all of the information that I read and
hear. I suppose I can footnote that:
That would include magazines such as Fortune, The Economist, and
Foreign Policy. Books like Woodward's and Pete Peterson's. TV shows
like the Nightly Business Report, The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, and
Hardball. Radio shows like the BBC World Service, PRI's The World,
and NPR. Then there's web sources such as this one (there's good info
here!). Finally there's the people I talk to - My wife works with
lots of foreign folk, many with advanced degrees in econ, business,
etc. I'm also part of 2 international industry groups and we talk a
lot about this stuff. Last night I had dinner with 1 Frenchman and 1
former East German that now lives in France. The groups have
Americans, Europeans, Australians, Asians and Middle Easterners.
Robert found a few holes which should prove it's mine! Maybe I'll
rewrite it and add some things in reference to things I've heard here
and elsewhere - maybe those in agreement could help!
Gruss
