I agree that using humor to point out how ridiculous the over-reaction of
some people is not a bad thing.  Humor, when intended to do so, like Rock
and Carlin for example, is fine with me because that's the whole purpose of
the joke.  Some I may not find particularly funny, but I don't find it poor
taste.  Compare that to jokes made by Andrew Dice Clay.  I found most of his
jokes targeted at gays, blacks, women, etc. in poor taste because there was
no point to it.  It was funny to people because it was shocking and it
reflected their own thinking about those topics.  I'll admit, I thought his
mother goose jokes were hysterical. But beyond that, not funny.  I hope that
I'm able to articulate the differences.  It's kind of a grey area, but
that's how I make the distinction.
