I generally factor in a larger battery as part of the cost for the unit - I
like my 14-20 hours of battery (I've got the extended battery for the
Jornada).  ;^)

But I'm not sure about the Brighthand review - thought they said two hours
watching video?  In other words it seemed that was an estimate of the
minimum battery life you could expect.  That seems good if you can get eight
or so with the screen dim just reading (what I do mostly) - I'd like good
performance with video, wireless and so forth but I expect that to kill the
battery life.

Personally I'm still waiting for the Asus dual wireless to come out and get
some reviews.  It's a little more expensive that the Dell, but cheaper than
the HP and has a 1.3 megapixel camera as well (a nice to have for me. oh the
times I've wished I had a camera - but it's not at all crucial).  ;^)

If the Asus flops in reviews the Dell seems like a really nice option.  If
my Jornada can hold out for another coupla months (seemingly more unlikely
as time goes one. the power button is going now) then it looks like I'll
have at least six or seven models to choose from with Compact Flash and VGA
screens.

As an aside - know of any place (big chain) that actually does a good job at
displaying these things?  I've been out of the shopping market for a while
but when I hit Staples to see if I could hold the new HP they had a total of
two old models available (along with about six Palm devices and nothing
else).  Best Buy wasn't much better.

Jim, did you see the reviews (all over) for the new Dell VGA model?

It looks sweet, but I can't put up with a 2.5hr battery life. Not
after 12+ hours with my Jornada. Are there any PPCs left that get good
battery life?
