Well, let's say the US decided Toronto looked like a good addition to the US and took it over. They you could argue that the Canadians would be within their rights to lob missles into Toronto and the US would be within their rights to fire back and then the Canadians would be within their rights to launch on Detroit and then the Americans would be within their right to take out Banff and then ... But maybe you'll argue that the US shouldn't have taken Toronto, but maybe the US argues that it's actually US territory because it bought it from France and blah, blah, blah.
