I seriously doubt that his 30-year old experience in Vietnam as a combat officer is an overwhelmingly asset when considering civilian commander-in-chief duties for a modern armed forces (Wes Clark would have been the democrat for that).
That being said I do think that he'll do a better job than Bush, but that's a prediction, not a fact. At the very least I think that Kerry will honor the troops more as people where I feel Bush has used the troops simply as a tool (and a blunt tool at that).
