There's an interesting story behind him which I'll paraphrase:

He was just an average Frech farmer until he went to OktoberFest in
Germany and was struck with a thought: there had to be a way to
generate those kind of beer sales with wine, his baliwick. So he
wondered what he could release on a yearly basis that would work like
the fall beers.

Nouveau is not really wine - it's made with a sloppy whole-berry
fermentation process as the first taste of the new grapes. Which is
why it doesn't keep.

DuBeouf thought this would be perfect for his yearly release marketing
strategy and so borrowed a bunch of money and put out a marketing
campaign around France.

Long story short, it became so popular that he could no longer supply
enough grapes, so he committed wine heresy by growing the grapes in a
hurried fashion and using a cheap yeast.

This cheap yeast imparts a banana smell to DeBeouf's Nouveau which
oenophiles call the "Chiquita Squeeze".

I think Louis Jadot uses a less manufactured process and so it's
supposed to be better.

Anyway, 2 Thanksgivings ago I bought a bunch of different types of
Nouveau from Jadot to DuBeouf and had a blind wine tasting with about
20 people. The DeBeouf was picked by 98% of people as the best.

DeBeouf and his "Chiquita Squeeze" win!
