I agree with everything else you wrote, but this bit that I've quoted
is sorta silly. First, A64 IS one of those major revisions to the CPU
that we've been waiting for. And it's here now, not a couple years
from now. Second, it's pretty safe to say that of course there will be
major revisions in a couple years. It's the spirit of Moore's Law. Who
will bring the major revision is yet to be seen.

Personally, I do like both Intel and AMD. I'm looking at building a
system for a friend for xmas, and I'll probably go with AMD for him.
I'm looking at upgrading my own system and I'm still vaccilating
between Intel and AMD. In both cases it will cost about $325 for the
mobo and proc (everything else is reuseable). So it's just a question
of about 10% in favor of AMD for speed vs. a slightly more gradual
upgrade path with Intel since my current system is already Intel.
