Don't forget, not all urbanites voted blue.
In the big cities you have a higher concentration of
both poor people and minorities that all tend to vote
blue.
Also there are the haves vs. the have-nots. In NY the
business world votes red, the ones that have to work
to keep making it. Look at North Shore LI and
Westchester where all of the wealthy Wall Street crowd
hang their hats. All Red. The people that either don't
work, welfare, or have secure jobs, unions, and
tenured professors vote blue. Only part that doesn't
figure in is the Media and Hollywood. Oh yeah, the old
money wealthy also votes blue. The Kerry's and
Kennedy's that inherit money. There are plenty of them
in the North East.
