I went to the Devcon last week with one of our sales guys. The airport wouldn't allow anyone but ticketed passengers to the gates so I stayed with my family until around 15 minutes before takeoff (cutting it close but you're supposed to be there no less than 10 minutes before). Anyway, we got to the gate 15 minutes before takeoff and were not allowed on the plane because the pilot had ordered the gate closed. OK, very annoying...but, what concerns me is that the plane took off with our bags and not with us on board. Isn't there a rule against this?
Another weird thing - on my return flight I took Southwest. My flight didn't have designated seating...you basically check in and get a number which designates when you can get on the plane but not where you are seated. I thought passengers were supposed to have designated seats...
