As a frequent traveller it concerns me! One thing I don't get about
our airport "security" is why we can't be more like the Dutch or
Israelis. People say El Al is too costly to be feasible, but I know
I'd pay more for better security.

And the Dutch already do it, somewhat. 3 weeks ago I was passing out
of the EU via Schipol and I was individually interviewed, had my
tickets and flight plan checked 3 times, and had my bags checked 3
times: once on the way into the airport, once on the way to the int'l
flights, and once before i got onto flight.

The last time is right after the interview and is around a blind
corner where they've got a person who is just watching everyone while
your bags are re-x-rayed.

I think this method is very secure and I wonder why it's not done in
the US or elsewhere in the EU.

I don't think that's any illusion of security - it real security.
Look at El Al's record.
