So a bunch of girl scouts came by the office today and asked if I wanted to buy some cookies. Well let me tell you, I had a long talk with them. They were obviously part of some Bush ploy to under mind our freedom to protest. I preached to them about the importance of democracy and how their actions jeopardized everyone's freedom. Some of them cried, but as my Republican friends like to say, "Freedom Isn't Free." And they can't refute that because they have a bumper sticker on their Mercedes that says so.
I've avoiding purchasing anything today and it wasn't easy. I had to ask my buddy to buy me lunch. I didn't tell him I was participating in black Thursday until he bought me lunch. I overestimated his ability to understands why I had to refuse paying him for lunch in the name of black Thursday. I guess I shouldn't have ordered 20 things. I'm also hoping that Best Buy will understand the political importance of Black Thursday. I had planned last week to stop by to pick up a few things. "I'm not a thief, I'm just participating in Black Thursday. I had already planned to purchase all these items today but it just happens to be Black Thursday and I cannot, in good conscious, pay for these goods." PS That was all a joke. I can't see how Black Thursday helps anyone. -- 2004 - The year $184M couldn't buy a pennant.
