It's mostly a lack of savings and the market here - an a killer deal on rent. We've got about $11,000 in debt we're trying to get gone but only about $7,000 in savings. We're also only paying $900/month rent for an apartment that would fetch $1500 in this neighborhood. I make quite a bit, but we are on a single income with two kids. We could probably move far out from the city whenever we like, but right now I work downtown and am close enough to ride my bike in. The Boston housing market is INCREDIBLY inflated - you'll easily pay a minimum of $300k for a fixer-upper or small condo. (To put that in perspective my Grandparent duplex with an acre of land in Buffalo was recently appraised at $75,000.) We're not really discouraged and like where we are a lot; but there are many things about our current apartment that we don't like and its missing storage (so we're paying another $100/month for self-storage). We're still going through the whole "do we really want a house" thing as well - some days yes, some days no. ;^) Jim Davis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:143622 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
