With dual zone in a 2 story, in the summer, we leave the air on
upstairs, and it falls down, letting us keep the downstairs temp set
higher, but keeping the whole house cool. In the winter, we reverse
that. I have the upstairs temp set to 62 degrees and the downstairs set
to 66. The heat hardly ever comes on upstairs, and it's regularly 68 -
which for me is too hot!!

I don't think I can replicate that in a ranch :)

But that is beside the point - I just don't like ranches. :)

As for footprint - I'm a country girl too - but the house sits on 1/2 an
acre. Hardly comparable to your 5 acres. I like a big yard and lots of
space between us and neighbors. Therefore small foot print good! :)

Cheers,
Erika
