I had exactly the same feeling about the marital strife plotline. My wife and I are debating whether that last scene will turn out to be one of those "in the head scenarios" for lack of a better term, which are used often in the series. The series would start again with what really happenned.
Also, what's with the Russian homeless person? Does he represent his conscious??
