I had exactly the same feeling about the marital strife plotline.

My wife and I are debating whether that last scene will turn out to be
one of those "in the head scenarios" for lack of a better term, which
are used often in the series. The series  would start again with what
really happenned.

Also, what's with the Russian homeless person?  Does he represent his
conscious??

All in all, brilliant writing.
