I always get annoyed at stuff like that... mostly. All too often it's used
as a way to add "drama" meaninglessly. Why can't writers just let couples
stay happy?

They did the same thing on "Mad About You" and it wasn't any less annoying
then. On the good side "Huff", at least, seems to be handling it well
enough.

(I actually really liked the last episode of "ER" for this: they began one
of these groaners of a plot line. Two characters who recently got together
began the episode fighting, continued through the episode fighting but ended
the episode making up. I was just nice to see a normal "bad day" portrayed
without all the heaviness.)

I doubt it - too much was exposed. But in general I hate cliffhangers -
especially on these cable shows where there's only 12 episodes per season.
You have to wait FORVEVER for the conclusion!

I really like a lot of cable shows ("Huff", "Deadwood", "The Sopranoes",
"Six Feet Under", "Carnivale") - but with 7 months between seasons it can be
hard to maintain enthusiasm.

I think so. I think that they made that pretty clear in the last scene, but
we'll have to see. He's actually Hungarian - the only reason that I nitpick
is because I thought it might be a pun ("Hungry homeless" person or "Starved
conscience") but now I'm not so sure...

I do have fears that it will turn into something "serious" and we'll see
Huff, himself, incarcerated or at least in therapy. But I really hope not.
