Cool! That is the same phone my wife has. It's a great phone, but the
clunky part is the browser. It has excellent battery life and great
reception on the fringes.

It does SMS both ways. I'm not sure why they call it one-way SMS,
though. My understanding of one-way SMS is that the phone can receive
all the SMS you want, but you cannot reply to them. (At least, I'm
pretty sure I have sent two-way SMS with that phone.)

I still use my trusty Treo 300. I'm waiting until the 650s come down in
price a bit. We may get a 650 for my wife soon, however. It may
eliminate the need to buy her a complete laptop for now. Other than the
reason of needing to edit some spreadsheets, she probably would never
want to get rid of her 4900 phone.

We signed up with SprintPCS about three years ago when they had a
helluva deal. We got 2000 anytime minutes, two lines, free
Sprint-to-Sprint and (drum roll....) unlimited Vision/Text/SMS (which is
Sprint's internet access) all for the unheard of price of ~$85/month.

Every now and then, Sprint calls and says it's time to upgrade my plan.
Once I tell them to actually look at my current plan, they can't come up
with a newer plan that doesn't cost $30 more than what I have now.

That means I can never leave my plan.

Nope, it definitely is SMS capable - one way though - it is pretty old
phone, we are waiting for some prices to come down to get new ones. I
guess that I will look out for ones that are more SMS compatible. What
does one-way SMS capable mean?

I know that I can send and receive text messages. So, if I am reading
this correctly, I cannot send text messages using SMS and ICQ until I
upgrade my phone.

Here's the phone, if it matters:
