You decide to send in a group of exterminators. They disrupt the wasps. Many wasps are killed, but many escape and go on to sting people. The number of wasp stings goes up sharply in the area. What have you accomplished? Well, you've accomplished a lot if you've addressed a problematic nest that already existed.
