The SUVs and the gas guzzling I do not care, nothing I can do about it and the guzzling of earths resources really do not bother me, I am not much for recycling and all that crap. As long as it does not end up in my yard, and I do not have to stare at it, do what ya must with it.
And I disagree with your thought about nothing would ever change. I think if some, if not most, of the people out there that take their view and expect every one of us to abide by what they say is right would stop pushing their antiquated thoughts on others, I believe that the world would change in a much more positive way. A place where people would not be afraid to live their lives as they see fit, where someone that is homosexual is not scared to live their lives in peace without worrying about all the other assholes out there that are against it. You show me one person that is dead against gay marriage and then try to show me how they are directly affected by homosexual marriage. Being effected is not being "offended" or something that goes against their views. They are not losing anything, the homosexuals are. I have more then my share of gay friends, male and female, and I would completely support their right to marry if they want. Now, that does not mean I am for it, really it is not my thing. I would really hope that my son does not go down that path, but if he decides to, I will be supportive and I will hope that he has the choice to be happy in life as I am. While I agree that there is nothing wrong with gay marriage, and many people waste too much time fighting the issue, I think that your sentiments about who should and shouldn't care about social issues are dangerous. Your example, SUVs, *do* affect you, because they are guzzling the earth's fuel and polluting the environment that you live in, and someday you or your children will feel the repercussions. If only people who are directly involved in or are directly affected by a bad practice are the only ones that *should* speak out against them, then this world will never change. You've all heard this quotation by Martin Niemoeller, right? "In Germany they came first for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:148237 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
