Reading this list gets you the latest news, fads, and thoughts from all over the world. The "jousting" helps me clarify my own opinions on things or figure out I'm way off, not to mention learn tons of stuff. For example, did you hear about the guy in WI who wants to change the law so he can hunt cats? Now what could be more important that jousting about cat huntin'? Since I've been a regular reader of this list at least once a week I hear, "how the hell do you know that?" or "where the hell did you hear that?" or "what's the hell's wrong with you?" Whatever their amazement I always have lots to talk about, which avoids those awkward moments.
