for visual clarity, I would put an arrow or some other visual indicator on the menus that expand, to show that they will expand. "Skills" should look slightly different from the rest because it expands.
Also, I agree - the colors might need some revamping. The seagull is giving me the seagull stare of death (!), and maybe not the friendliest image, especially if you're trying to make the sight friendly and approachable. I like the text, though. Not too relaxed. Very straightforward. Hope that helps.
