I think that if he were really concerned with her well-being he would have been much more aggressive in seeking medical treatment for her rather than making the parents sue him at every step of the way. Clearly he wants her to die and I realize that many reasonable people feel that at this point that would be best. However I don't feel he tried, ever, to pursue any alternative. Where was he fifteen years ago? Warehousing her.
Just because he is smart enough to realize that accepting money would discredit him does not mean that his motives are altruistic. And sure, I am casting aspersions on a man I have never met, but he has made himself a public figure and it is fair comment.
