Unless someone like Google was underwriting such a project, that 1.6t network 
server is waaaay out of reach. Something like this is more along the lines of

It's not a matter of on-demand retrieval, but reading a comic from tape is not 
really a good idea. Reading an entire series is worse. Writing a cross 
reference program to follow every reference to a character, place or event will 
probably catch a tape drive on fire (though such a project needs time and/or a 
sponsor)
