Exactly! How do you feel about this statistic Terry Sciavo Obsessors:
The National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS) reported an estimated 1,400 child fatalities in 2002. NCANDS defines "child fatality" as the death of a child caused by an injury resulting from abuse or neglect, or where abuse or neglect were contributing factors. Why aren't you out there protesting limited funding for CPS, or aren't these children "innocent and defenseless" enough for you. Better yet, why aren't you volunteering your time to Child Advocates. When my wife was a Child Advocate, she would tell me stories about the CPS agents that she would work with. She told me that everyone she met with was doing the job for the right reasons. They really wanted to help protect children from these situations, but they usually had so many cases that it was physically impossible to visit each case. She also said that these case workers almost always left work with an armful of case files that they'd review that night and try to figure out which ones they could visit. These case workers are also not the world's best paid people. Look around you people. There's a lot more suffering going on than just Terri Schiavo. Yes Terri's situation was tragic. How can you justify protesting and bemoaning her suffering and the travesty of justice when there are more than enough causes that you really can affect and improve. It really seems like people are lemmings. "Hey look, the news is presenting this story, Ohhhh, I must get excited about this cause". This is so similar to the Elizabeth Smart story. If it wasn't on the news, would the story have drawn in so many people. People offereing prayers, search help, donations, etc. In the end, did that have an effect on anything. No! She was recovered by a police officer who had been briefed by authorities already. How many children weren't recovered during that time? Arrrrgh! Meanwhile, this will become a new platform issue for the conservative vs liberal debate. That will be it's legacy............ Someday, I'm going to try to not write in a "stream of conciousness" style :) marlon On Thu, 31 Mar 2005 10:18:10 -0500, Ray Champagne <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Man, I hope not.
