Just as a follow up... To this post.. Essentially what I thought I needed to do was correct....
After uninstalling SP1, I removed internet connection sharing and the internet connection firewall, installed RRAS and configured it to act in the same vein as ICF/ICS and then re-applied SP1. Everything worked sweet. So the only SP1 install issue I had was I guess a minor one that has forced me to use the better, more configurable tool for the job of routing our network traffic so all in all I've had no real major showstoppers with SP1. -----Original Message----- From: Paul Vernon Sent: Friday, 01 April 2005 01:08 To: CF-Community Subject: RE: Win 2003 SP1 It mangled my Internet Connection Sharing... Totally removed it... The docs say go here, hit this do that to enable it etc which is fine when the buttons and checkboxes exist... They just werent there... What was worse was that I couldn't turn on RRAS because it said that ICS was enabled and running... WTF??? I had no Internet access for 3 hours... Don't tell me that it was running... Even when I disabled the firewall and rebooted, RRAS still thought ICF/ICS was running and refused to start... I just spent 3 hours installing and then uninstalling SP1 on that machine... Ho-hum... Next plan of action is to get RRAS running under SP 0 and then upgrade to SP1... Hopefully by disabling ICF/ICS before the upgrade I may stand a chance of keeping my connectivity.... On the bright side, I installed it on our dev CF box earlier and it went on sweet no problems with that one whatsoever...
