Least I think we're on 14 ...

A lot of elbow grease.

If our yard was flatter, I'd of pulled the truck in, wrapped a chain
around the stump and root and dragged it out, which is a great method -
providing you have the vehicle power to do it - with a properly
installed tow hitch and a driver that knows how to put continues slow
pressure on the chain, and not just floor it ;)

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS BY THROWING A CHAIN AROUND YOUR BUMPER OR ANY OTHER
PART OF YOUR VEHICLE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. (I am not
repsonsible for any damage done to your vehicles :P)

Our biggest stump is only a foot in diameter, so we will be slowly
digging it out. The smaller ones, we used a spade shaped shovel, and
just kept digging down to get below the roots to pull them out with our
hands. The soil in our yard is very sandy and soft right now because
it's been under years of dead leaves and pine needles. It's not the
usual compact Georgia clay. It's very pliable and aerated....so it's
easy to dig.

Still a lot of work - but at least it's not impossible.

Cheers,
Erika
