Forget Dell, go with an AMD 64 bit machine. Don't build your own, there are
plenty of system makers out there who will build you a system to spec. I go
with a local verndor in San Diego called Chips and Memory because they use the
best components and they are near my house, but there are plenty of national
vendors- HP comes to mind- selling AMD 64 systems. If you want the ultimate
desktop, Alienware has an AMD 64 system with dual GPUs in SLI mode starting at
around $2200.
