I agree, I would not have bought my Prius, if I did not need a new car anyway. We had just paid over a thousand dollars for repairs for the third time since the end of last year. That is my trigger, when I start paying more in repairs than I would be in payments, time for a newer car.
To be fair, I got my Prius used. That was the only way I could get one. Luckily for me it was a very lightly used 2004.
