My comments aren't in response to your wanting to contribute in other
ways -- or even not wanting to contribute at all. If a person doesn't
want to contribute (in any way), that's their right, regardless of how
much an ass I think they are. My issue is with people claiming that
anyone and everyone can avoid becoming or get out of being homeless
just by looking for a job -- that getting out of homelessness is a
simple matter of desire and that anyone who is homeless therefore is
so entirely of their own doing. I don't deny that there are con
artists -- I've never personally seen any, or if I have they've been
very good at it. This may have a lot to do with location. I've never
lived and/or worked in a really high-traffic area with good public
transportation and a lot of pan-handling, which is where I would
expect to find the con artists who work that particular angle.
