For background, my wife is Indian and I have nothing against global 
competition. 

The guy in India is just happy to have a job and be able to put a roof over his 
head. When you live in a developing country, the first order of business is 
food and shelter. 

As India matures and develops economically, salaries will go up. It's already 
happening to some extent. I expect to see salaries there rise to developed 
world levels within 30 years. Same with China. 

The good news is that their economies will be growing, too, so eventually we 
will benefit (or our children, more likely) from all the money flowing over 
there right now. But that hardly makes me want to go get a PhD.
