My dad died from cancer when I was 13, and back then (1974) chemotherapy and
radiation treatments were a lot worst than the cancer they were treating.
The pain was horrible for him, and he was a very strong man both physically
and mentally. He was taking 22 different pills (some of them as strong as
morphine), and he was constantly nauseated from them which in turn made him
lose more weight.

I found out from my mother after he passed away that the *only* thing that
gave him any relief and helped his appetite was marijuana. My mother was
his valiant nurse, constantly at his side cleaning incision sites, cooling
his forehead, reassuring him, and taking full advantage of even the
slightest hunger pang to feed him a shake containing Hoffman's Weight Gain
(a nutrient additive used by athletes) which was credited with keeping him
alive.

This ban against marijuana's use for bona fide medical reasons is very odd
to me when compared to the medical use of other drugs that have been
approved by the FDA only to later be recalled for killing people in large
numbers. I don't want anyone to suffer unnecessarily, so I support its use
for medical relief.

Footnote: when my uncle was helping my mother go through his things and pack
them away a couple of days after the funeral (never do this alone -- trust
me), they found a full pound of premium Colombian Gold in his closet. They
flushed it down the toilet.

Respectfully,
