Thanks Tony for the respectful response. Honestly, I'm not that fervent about much - I find myself thinking about both sides of the situation most of the time and wondering why a person would believe what he believes. But this is a relatively new phenomenon, developed over the past two or three years. Things used to be black and white for me - I understood exactly where I stood on every issue and I would characterize those views as very liberal. However, as I get older, I find myself understanding issues in a different manner than I did years ago.
Conservative issues are not always hard-headed as I used to believe. I think that conservative values place more emphasis on the society as a whole rather than personal liberties. Conservative issues are centered around keeping the family (using the strict interpretation of a mother, father and children) intact. I have come to realize that I am a conservative with many liberal leanings (I guess I am a moderate), but I am certainly not a Republican and although I have been a registered Democrat since I could vote, I am liking that party less and less every day.
