I don't mean to demonize you, just your ideas of federal authority. I'm trying to extrapolate your argument so that you can see how dangerous it is. There's a reason that we have local government. For example, how is your idea of "keeping the family intact" different from, say, Taliban laws subjugating women? Both are an attempt by a central authority to moralize to it's citizens; to control their behavior to "protect" them. I'll repeat what Justice Thomas said in his dissent yesterday: "If the majority is to be taken seriously, the Federal Government may now regulate quilting bees, clothes drives, and potluck suppers throughout the 50 states. This makes a mockery of Madison's assurance to the the people of New York that the 'powers delegated' to the Federal Government are 'few and defined' while those of the States are 'numerous and indefinite.'" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:159910 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
