1.) Why should it be insensitive to tell your wife you kept a promise
you made to her even if you know her parents disagree?  They should
support you for being a good husband.

2.) Insensitive is different from insulting.  Insensitive is often
justified.  There are lots of times I don't consult or worry about my
in-laws feelings when I do things with my wife.  That's because I made
vows to her, not them.  So it may be insensitive, but it doesn't the
person is a jerk.

3.) Given that Mr. Schiavo's have openly attacked and insulted him, he
owes then no debt of sensitivity so the real question is, is it
insulting?  The clear answer is no.
