My sympathies. It was a bugger of a shock to me when I was diagnosed. Seriously though, once things are somewhat stabilized look into getting an insulin pump. It makes things so much easier and keeps your blood glucose levels stable much easier than having to take several needles daily.
Medtronic now has a blood glucose meter that talks with the insulin pump to automatically adjust the basil insulin rate and bolus as needed depending on glucose levels. So it makes it much easier to keep things stable. Also get a carb counting book - not an Atkins book but something like the Calorie King book (see http://www.calorieking.com/foods/). and follow it very closely. You calculate the number of grams of carbs per meal and then divide by 10 - this gives you the amount of insulin you need as a bolus. The other calculations involve being over or under the normal glucose ranges. It can be done, it may be a pain, but consider the alternatives. larry On 7/8/05, Jerry Johnson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Week before last.
