Wow. Kinda unusual, but not unheard of. What kind of insulin regiment are you on now? About a month ago, I started on Lantis and Novalin. I'm starting to get the hang of it. It's very flexible, but it means 4 shots a day and a lot of blood sugar checks. Speaking of which, you should absolutely positively get a monitor that lets you check the back of your arm. Trust me on this one.
