Well, it shouldn't take to long to read the first one; I can read it in an evening. It is not going to provide life changing insight, but I find it to be an enjoyable few hours of escapism. Now, if one finds it a waste of time to be reading unless one learning new ideas or experiencing new thoughts, then this book is not for you. There is nothing particularly new, especially if one if familiar with other stories of same flavor. Maybe the "word smithing" is not that fancy, but I've never really understood that concept. I just know that when I read the stories I can clearly visualize the characters, locations and action so to me the words are doing their job just fine. And I enjoy a simple, happy story with simple characters sometimes.
