I do tend to be fairly choosy about the fiction I read, but not for
this reason... It's primarily because I read rather slowly... it's
unfortunate, but I don't seem to be able to really improve my reading
speed without seriously reducing my comprehension, and I'm not willing
to give that up. And since I end up with very little time for reading
in general (my time in the last 5 years especially having been
dominated almost entirely by work), I end up being really choosy about
what I read in general. Philosophy, history and programming books are
at the front, fiction at the end. If I could find a pragmatic
"business" book that could help me to figure out how to attract a
sales person (or a grant or something) that might take precedence over
philosophy and programming books, since it would get me closer to my
goal of supporting myself with my own projects... though I've
generally found business books to not be pragmatic ... and the ones
that are pragmatic (grant info for instance) seem to tend to be rather
apocryphal and cryptic so as to make them practically useless anyway.
