I hardly ever have to use "disagree" with thoughtful people because whatever their proposal is, if it differs from mine, is usually well thought out and therefore unassailable. For example, let's say you're on a road trip and down to 10% on a tank. You propose stopping now, but your wife does a few calculations and says you don't have to stop another 50 miles. While one of those approaches is conservative and one is liberal, they are both within reason. While you could say there's a disagreement, there really isn't. Both don't want to run out of gas and both approaches prevent that. The questions usually come in the details. For example, maybe stopping immediately puts you in a bad neighborhood. Now you need to do a more detailed examination. The popular political disagreements usually have one side or another ignoring the circumstances, such as the bad neighborhood.
