Oooh i like this analogy...lets take it further:

Driver: "We have to stop for gas now"
Passenger: "No we don't, we can go another 50 miles"
Driver: "No we can't, this gas gauge doesn't work, it's 5 gallons off"
Passenger: "Oh yeah, prove it?"
Driver: "You'll just have to trust me, otherwise the proof will be running 
out of gas"
Passenger: "You ultraconservative!"
Driver: "Gas hater!"
