What is our level of involvement? I have heard a lot of conflicting
information. Granted, ground troops. But where and what are they doing? If
they are not directly engaging the enemy, then they are pretty safe. In
fact, our people are not entering most areas because we don't want them shot
in the lawlessness that is Afghanistan today. Air power? Well, enough said.
There are no defensive systems, so aircraft are pretty safe.

We have lost some people to accidents too Hatton, but that happens anyway.
In 10 years of AF duty I lost 23 friends in aircraft accidents. 15 at one
time in Turkey. Engine fell off the plane. Lord mount failed. Was a bummer.
Others died at Red Flag.
