I'm actually not sure what your argument was.  But I think it ended up 
supporting my idea, at least the way I read it.

Whether you subscribe to millions of years or 5000, evolution is happy to be 
there to support changes to life.  Man has changed in the last 5000 years.  We 
have changed in the last 1000.  The average height is several inches taller 
then man in the middle ages.  Our pinkies are shrinking.  Brain size has 
increased.  

Now if you want to get from a single cell to a modern human, then you probably 
aren't looking at most religious texts anyway so the probably are not trying to 
squeeze all that into the last few millennia.
