1. Radiant barrier on the roof decking and thermostactically controlled electric exhaust fans. 2. I'd go with granite on the counters, but that's just my opinion. 3. Brick it all the way around if that's the standard in you area. 4. Make sure the air conditioner is big enough for the house your cooling :) 5. Got a dog? Make a dog room off of the garage. 6. Got a girlfriend, wife, or girls? Make sure to get toilets with a powerful flush. It'll save you tons of time with a plunger. I speak from experience. 7. Wire all the rooms for a ceiling fan. Make sure that you have two switches for each room. One for the light, one for the fan. 8. Want to use a room as a media/movie room with a projector. Have the contractor leave the wall untextured. I did this and it makes a pretty good screen. 9. Phone in the master bathroom. Every time I sit down to read, damnit somebody calls :) 10. Arrange/put multiple phone/TV/outlets in each room so that you could rearrange the furniture.
